Hello!  We are celebrating with Lady Joyful and her achievement of reaching over 200 subscribers on her YouTube channel with a video hop.  Since I'm the last stop on the hop, click here to head back to the beginning of the hop at Lady Joyfuls channel.  I created an elegant and eye-catching shaker card using high contrast with a mix of textures and finishes.  Here's the link to my video and supplies are listed and linked below.

Foiled Acetate Shakers with No Stamping

Foil, rainbows, shakers and EASY.  Versatile too.  Deco Foil recently came out with clear acetate Toner Sheets.  These are 8.5x11 inch clear acetate sheets printed with various designs and ready to run through your laminator with heat transfer foil.  So much fun.   I cut a sheet of the Splatter print down to 4.25x5.5, giving me 4 panels, and used a different foil on each one.  I couldn't wait to play with these and they are so cool.  The green/rainbow one would be perfect for a boy and you could change the sentiment to anything you wanted.  If you didn't have a right die cut, you could stamp and cut a banner shape to attach instead.  I think my Marty will be getting that one.  He's 10 and loves interactive cards.  Here is the link to my video tutorial and supplies are listed below.

Rainbow Deco Foil
Minc Pink Gold Ombre foil
Deco Foil "Splatter" Toner Sheets
White and Green glitter paper
Scor-tape
3M Foam tape
White cardstock
Smile die
Tombow Mono Multi glue
Pink and light green shimmer paper
Neat & Tangled Like Magic sequins
Little Things
Jewels: Bridal
Sequins: Clear Iridescent, Lily White, Star Shine

Thanks for hanging out with me for a bit!  Let me know if you have any questions.  See you next time!

6 cards with the Brutus Monroe Unicorn Inspiration Box

Lots to talk about today!  If you haven't tried one of Brutus Monroe's Inspiration Boxes, you are missing out!  Brutus Monroe always has images that are different and a bit funky and original.  They're attractive and versatile, making them suitable for both genders.  Masculine cards are something that tend to be difficult, so finding a stamp set and card kit that lend themselves to guy suitable cards is a rare find indeed.  These kits include a stamp set, cardstock, patterned paper, ink, foilable panels (toner printed panels ready to receive foil), and embellishments.  I have lots of leftovers to play with as well.  So lets get to the good stuff; the cards! I've made 5 cards, each with a different image and sentiment from the stamp set and a sixth card with leftovers from creating the others.  Here's the video with each card so you can re-create them at home or better yet, find more inspiration for your own designs.

DT Guest Spot: Penguin Shaker with Gerda Steiner Designs and Alcohol Ink Background

Hello and Happy 2018!  I am excited for the blog post and video today.  Macy from Gerda Steiner Designs reached out to me and asked if I would like to guest design for them.  They always have such charming and delightful images and excellent quality products, so of course I said yes.  I was brimming with ideas for these little guys and couldn't wait to play.
Valentine Penguins is one of those versatile sets that can be romantic, but also lends itself to friendly or encouraging.  My first card was one inspired by Empire Penguins that have the really colorful feathers on their heads.  I wanted to bring lots of color and excitement to the party and alcohol inks are perfect for that.  As I worked, the ideas coalesced into a shaker card and I love how it turned out.  Here's the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and my supplies are listed below.
Supplies:
GSD Valentine Penguins (supplied to me)
Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock
MISTI
Ranger Alcohol Ink cardstock

Handmade Christmas 2017: Alcohol Inks and Chibitronics

Merry Christmas and welcome to the final card of the Handmade Christmas 2017 series.  This design came about through the idea "what if there was a snowman at the manger when Jesus was born?"  Snowpeople are always such happy creatures and I imagined they would celebrate that first Christmas too.  I made several alcohol ink backgrounds and the wavy stripes made me think of a cold, winter night, just right for a snowman and the rest followed suit.  I die cut a small star in the upper right corner, added the stamps and heat embossed them and the front panel was almost complete.  Then I built the circuit for the lighted star and put everything together with some sequins to finish it off.  When you press on "Star" in the sentiment, the little star lights up.  Delightful!  This design is suitable for everyone on your list too.  From single dudes to grandparents or colleagues, done.  Here is the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and my supply list is below.

Supplies:
Penny Black Rejoice with Joy stamp set
My Favorite Things Holiday Hugs stamp set
Ranger Glossy cardstock
Ranger Alcohol Inks:

Handmade Christmas 2017: Joy to Light Up Your World using Concord & 9th and Chibitronics

Joy is an emotion that a lot of people struggle with, so I wanted to create a design that was simple.  Joy is not the same as happiness or excitement.  Joy is what loving memories are made of.  Joy is created when you take the time to slow down and immerse yourself in the moment, taking stock of those you love and those that love you.  Joy is a gift from our Triune God and it persists through pain or lonliness or grief.  Christmas is celebrated by many different traditions and cultures around the world, but what links them together is the gift that was made available through the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ.  That, if nowhere else, is where our Joy can be found and embraced.
Yes, it lights up!  How fun is that!  Todays project is a light up using vellum in order to let a little more light show through and it's so pretty.  I've been having so much fun using the Chibitronics circuit builder set because it really is easy and allows you to create such fun and interactive cards.  I chose Teal and Gold for this card because I wanted to do a mix between traditional and festive with the colors and they look great together.  Here is the link to the video on my YouTube channel showing you step by step how to recreate this card at home or, better yet, take your own spin on it.  My supplies are listed below.

Supplies:
Concord & 9th Joy S&D
MISTI
DCWV Shimmer stack
Vellum
Scor-tape
Delicata Golden Glitz ink
Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die
Chibitronics set

Versamark ink

Handmade Christmas 2017: Gerda Steiner and Chibitronics Light Up Rudy

Please forgive my thumb in the photo; I didn't have another way of demonstrating the fact that Rudy's nose lights up.  And it's the point of the card and video, so it was kind of important.  I've had a box of Chibitronics sitting in my studio since last Christmas that I never got around to playing with but I'll be honest, building electronic circuits was intimidating.  However, all the instructions and easy to follow blueprints make it really simple and fun.  I made three for the series this year only because I ran out of batteries.
I had the Peeking Friends stamp set from Gerda Steiner designs and my idea was to create a scene with Rudolph and Santa peeking in a window.   I also had an alcohol ink background that reminded me of a night galaxy sky.  Things were starting to take shape.  I dug out the window die I knew I had somewhere; add the glowing nose and all that was left to do was put everything together.  Here is the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and my supplies are listed below.  Here is the link to the video with the alcohol ink background.

Supplies:
Gerda Steiner Designs Peeking Friends stamp set
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Bristol Smooth cardstock
MISTI
ARC Cherry Veener paper
Mama Elephant Creative Cuts Peek A Frame
Stick It Sheet Adhesive
Chibitronics
3M Foam tape

Alcohol Inks
Staz-On Cotton White ink
Neenah Classic Cream cardstock

Santa: E00, 50, 51; R27, 37, 39; C0, 00, CB

I hope you have a wonderfully creative and happy Christmas season!

Magical Halloween Part Deux with Darcies and Copics

Hey guys, welcome back!  As I said yesterday Halloween being my birthday was so much fun as a kid, but is just another day as an adult; for me, it's getting one step closer to Christmas that's the exciting part.  However, when I came across this stamp set with a Unicorn perched upon a jack-o-lantern, I couldn't resist.  The shaker was originally my practice image, but I loved it so much that I fussy cut it out and mounted it to the front of the shaker window.  I just couldn't let it go to waste.  The green glitter card has a Copic colored background because I wanted to keep the focus on the adorable unicorn.  Just a few sequins to finish it off.  This image is perfect for all the Halloween and Unicorn lovers alike.  I'll be sending these to my nieces; they'll love them!

You're My Favorite Shaker with Copic Coloring

Hey guys!  I have the perfect card to transition into fall.  Fall is becoming more and more of a favorite season for me as I love to watch how God paints the trees with greens, reds, golds, and oranges.  I live in Michigan where we have an abundance of squirrels and those little balls of energy are what inspired my card for today.  I think masculine cards are the one area card makers struggle with most and this design has a lean in that direction.  The background is a toner sheet that I ran through my laminator with gold foil and ink dipped with original Distress inks.  You want to be careful with adding wet mediums because the paper isn't designed to hold up to a lot.  Here is the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and all my supplies are listed below.

You're A Hoot by Brutus Monroe

Todays post is a 2 for 1 deal!  I've made 2 cards with similar styles using the Brutus Monroe You're A Hoot Inspiration Box and I love each of them.  The Inspiration Box is basically a card kit that includes a stamp set, cardstock, dies, embellishments, stickers and an ink cube but goes a step further to include toner prints that you can foil using a laminator.  Super cool.  This certainly has a fall color scheme to it, but the stamp set and owl die are usable all year.  I have a few ideas for Christmas cards too.  I hope Brutus Monroe makes the toner sheets available as a stand alone item in their shop because they are so versatile and cool.
In the video tutorial on my YouTube channel, I give an overview of the kit contents and how I made each card and my supplies are listed below.
