6 cards with the Brutus Monroe Mermaid Inspiration Kit

So much goodness in this box!  Today we are playing with the Brutus Monroe Mermaid Inspiration Box and I have made 6 cards to share with you.  I had to limit myself to 6 because I certainly could have kept going!  I've used lots of techniques so that there's lots of variety and originality between each one.  In the kit you get cardstock, embellishments, ink, a stamp set, a die, ready to foil panels in 4 different patterns, embossed panels and vellum.  Each kit is a little different and I love that.  I tend not to buy card kits because they tend to come with a lot of supplies I just don't use such as washi tape, patterned paper and ribbon and most of the time the stamp set is tired and boring.  However, I've been pleasantly surprised with Monroe's kits and will keep buying them.  Lets move to the exciting part: the cards!  The supplies listed for each card aren't included in the kit.  Here's the video tutorial on my YouTube channel.

I don't know if I can pick a favorite, but the sunset hair mermaid is awesome and I love her.  Also love all the foiled backgrounds, especially the rainbow fishies.   This is such a fun kit, lots to do with it and a lot of supplies as well.  What do you think of my format of putting 6 cards in one video?  Too long?  Just right?  Let me know in the comments what you think or if you have any questions.

Foiled Peony with Ink Blending and Dry Embossing

Full disclosure: I did not set out to make this card.  It was actually an experiment that went really right!  I used the Peony Coverplate die from Papertrey Ink and die cut it to see if it would work as a stencil for the Deco Foil transfer gel.  After using the gel and letting both pieces dry, I ran both through my laminator and was ecstatic with the results.  I used a textured cardstock I've had in my stash forever because it's a little heavier and that texture gave the foiled piece a really cool, vintage vibe that I liked better than the stenciled piece.  I used Amethyst Watercolor foil with it, so it has variegated purple tones and it just stunning.  I HAD to use it on a card.  I wanted to keep the ink blending really soft so that the foiling would stand out and to give it another texture.  And for one more element of texture, I dry embossed the white cardstock that I then ink-blended.  If you watched my alcohol ink video using this same die, then you'll be familiar with how I used the diecut to guide where I placed my colors of ink.  To finish it off, I added a die-cut sentiment in a medium teal and my card was complete. 6 cards with the Brutus Monroe Unicorn Inspiration Box

Lots to talk about today!  If you haven't tried one of Brutus Monroe's Inspiration Boxes, you are missing out!  Brutus Monroe always has images that are different and a bit funky and original.  They're attractive and versatile, making them suitable for both genders.  Masculine cards are something that tend to be difficult, so finding a stamp set and card kit that lend themselves to guy suitable cards is a rare find indeed.  These kits include a stamp set, cardstock, patterned paper, ink, foilable panels (toner printed panels ready to receive foil), and embellishments.  I have lots of leftovers to play with as well.  So lets get to the good stuff; the cards! I've made 5 cards, each with a different image and sentiment from the stamp set and a sixth card with leftovers from creating the others.  Here's the video with each card so you can re-create them at home or better yet, find more inspiration for your own designs.

Brutus Monroe and Arteza Brush Pens Watercolor

Is that a gorgeous rose or what?  Sometimes it's nice to get a little lost in coloring and the Enchanted Rose from Brutus Monroe is nice and large, so it allows you to take a little time and wander through a rose garden of your own making.  I've always loved coloring because you can do what you want.  Blue horse? Sure, why not?  While this rose may never appear in nature, it's lovely and wonderful and fun.  I had fun trying out the Arteza Brush Pens on this project.  They're a water based ink and are very similar to Zig clean color markers and you can use them interchangeably as well as together, which I did in the lavender rose in the top left corner.  Because there's lots of lovely bright color going on in the rose, I kept the rest of the card simple.  Head over to my youtube channel for the video tutorial and my supplies are listed below.

Supplies:
Arteza Brush Pens
Brutus Monroe Enchanted Rose background stamp
Bristol Smooth cardstock
MISTI
Archival Jet Black ink
Zig Clean Color Brush markers
Mama Elephant Smile die
Stitched Square die (4.5")
Cream cardstock (5"x10")
Black cardstock
Doodlebug White glitter cardstock
Tombow Mono Multi glue
Neat & Tangled Like Magic sequins
Scor-tape

Arteza was kind enough to give me a discount code for my viewers as well: XBH-QDU-800 for 10% off!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll catch you next time!
