Simply Colored Fuchsias

Hey guys!  Todays project has simple coloring and minimal embellishments while being quite pretty.  I'm one of those crafters who likes bling and upping the wow factor, but I wanted to demonstrate that it's not always necessary and sometimes, less IS more.  Fuchsias are sentimental for me because I grew up with them; my mom loves them and she always had several baskets hanging around the house.  Hummingbirds are sentimental because my nephew loves them and always says "Jazz, look at the hummingbirds" when he sees them at his feeders.  I'm still young at 36, but as I get older, I'm realizing how important moments are with the people you love.  This card is full of memories and faith and so much love.

Here is the link to the video on my YouTube channel.  My supplies are listed below.

Supplies:
Avery Elle Hummingbird stamp set
Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die set
Ink on 3 Blackout ink
MISTI

Bristol Smooth cardstock
Janes Doodles Bless Your Heart stamp set
Arteza Brush Markers
Versamark
Nuvo Black Embossing Powder
Copic Markers: B000 and B0000
Bazzill Candy Necklace (4.25"x5.5")
Ranger Matte Medium
Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Clear Droplets
Nuvo Clear Glitter Gloss pen
Be Creative Tape (also called Scor-tape)

Handmade Christmas 2017: Alcohol Inks and Chibitronics

Merry Christmas and welcome to the final card of the Handmade Christmas 2017 series.  This design came about through the idea "what if there was a snowman at the manger when Jesus was born?"  Snowpeople are always such happy creatures and I imagined they would celebrate that first Christmas too.  I made several alcohol ink backgrounds and the wavy stripes made me think of a cold, winter night, just right for a snowman and the rest followed suit.  I die cut a small star in the upper right corner, added the stamps and heat embossed them and the front panel was almost complete.  Then I built the circuit for the lighted star and put everything together with some sequins to finish it off.  When you press on "Star" in the sentiment, the little star lights up.  Delightful!  This design is suitable for everyone on your list too.  From single dudes to grandparents or colleagues, done.  Here is the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and my supply list is below.

Supplies:
Penny Black Rejoice with Joy stamp set
My Favorite Things Holiday Hugs stamp set
Ranger Glossy cardstock
Ranger Alcohol Inks:
  • Denim
  • Indigo
  • Snow
  • Sky
Versamark
Wow Vintage Champagne embossing powder
Lawn Fawn Puffy Star die
Vellum
Chibitronics
3M Foam Tape
Scor-Tape/ Be Creative tape
Ranger Matte Medium
Pretty Pink Post 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins
Little Things Lily White sequin mix

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderfully joyous Christmas and get the opportunity to worship often.  The story of Jesus' birth can be found in Luke 2: 6-16 if you're wondering.

Merry CHRISTmas!

You're My Favorite Shaker with Copic Coloring

Hey guys!  I have the perfect card to transition into fall.  Fall is becoming more and more of a favorite season for me as I love to watch how God paints the trees with greens, reds, golds, and oranges.  I live in Michigan where we have an abundance of squirrels and those little balls of energy are what inspired my card for today.  I think masculine cards are the one area card makers struggle with most and this design has a lean in that direction.  The background is a toner sheet that I ran through my laminator with gold foil and ink dipped with original Distress inks.  You want to be careful with adding wet mediums because the paper isn't designed to hold up to a lot.  Here is the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and all my supplies are listed below.

You're A Hoot by Brutus Monroe

Todays post is a 2 for 1 deal!  I've made 2 cards with similar styles using the Brutus Monroe You're A Hoot Inspiration Box and I love each of them.  The Inspiration Box is basically a card kit that includes a stamp set, cardstock, dies, embellishments, stickers and an ink cube but goes a step further to include toner prints that you can foil using a laminator.  Super cool.  This certainly has a fall color scheme to it, but the stamp set and owl die are usable all year.  I have a few ideas for Christmas cards too.  I hope Brutus Monroe makes the toner sheets available as a stand alone item in their shop because they are so versatile and cool.
In the video tutorial on my YouTube channel, I give an overview of the kit contents and how I made each card and my supplies are listed below.

From Backgrounds to Cards

A few weeks ago, I posted a video on backgrounds using Distress Oxide re-inkers.  Todays post gives you some ideas for using those backgrounds in card projects.  For the top card, I really loved the rainbow effect and wanted it to be the focal point so I kept it simple with a sentiment and a few sequins.  For the bottom card, I used a stencil and some black glitter paste to add some impact while bringing the rainbow colors forward.  To finish it off, I added a die cut and heat embossed sentiment and mounted to a card base with some gold foil paper as a mat to tie in the gold in the die cut.

Here is the video on my YouTube channel demonstrating the background technique and my supply list is below.

Supplies:
Canson XL 140 lb watercolor paper
Distress Oxide Reinkers
  • Picked Raspberry
  • Wild Honey
  • Salty Ocean
  • Twisted Citron
  • Lucky Clover
Imagine Crafts Shimmer Spritz

Top card:
Stitched Rectangle die
Scor-tape
Funny Bones RWD 418 (sentiment)
Pretty Posh 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins
Little Things Ivory sequins

Bottom Card:
DCWV Gold Satin foil paper
Stitched Rectangle die
Concord & 9th Hello die
Wow Turkish Nights embossing powder
Hero Arts Swirl Stencil
Nuvo Black Diamond Glimmer paste

Mermaids Mean Summer

I LOVE these mermaids.  And I want to go swimming with them.  I had this watercolor background sitting on my studio table and that was the inspiration for the card.  It has a fantasy ocean feel that made the mermaids a perfect fit.  I don't have footage of the background in the video, but it was very simple.  Using a wet on wet technique, I added lines of blues, purple and some teal, then laid in a bit a gold and let dry.  My mermaids are colored with Copics and finished off with a sparkle pen.  Here is the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and my supply list is below.

Trust His Word featuring Concord & 9th

I was so excited and appreciative the first time I saw the Faith and Love set by Concord & 9th.  While more and more companies are producing more faith based sets now, it's been a long time coming.  With Bible Journaling rising in trend, it's having a ripple effect into cardmaking and I love it.  As I sit, writing this post and watching the myriad of colorful birds at my birdfeeder, I am again reminded of how creative God is.   I like to talk to God while I drive and often look up at the sky, so that was the initial inspiration for the design.   He is the center or focus of this card so I used "His" as the center stamp and placed the other words around it until I liked the composition.

The design for this card is simple; a few stenciled clouds and heat embossing with glitter embossing powder.  Keeping the background light and simple allows for the glitter powder to stand out and catch attention.  Any time you want to use a glitter embossing powder, I suggest you do that as your last step.  Anything you do over or on top of the glitter powder (obviously after it's been heat set) will end up removing some of your glitter.   Here is the link to the video on my YouTube channel and my supply list is below.

Supplies:
Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock
My Favorite Things Wonky Stitches die
Concord & 9th Faith and Love stamp set
MISTI
Versamark
Wow Golden Flame embossing powder
Lawn Fawn Moonstone ink
Inky Antics Cloud stencil
Hero Arts Soft Sky ink
Turquoise cardstock
Little Things Nautical Sparkle sequin mix
Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins
Ranger Matte Medium

It's All About the Layers: Layered Stamping AND Layered Stenciling

The Pretty Petals stamp and die sets by Concord and 9th were sitting on my desk and it gave me the daydream of a tropical vacation.  This is a layering stamp set and would be beautiful in endless color combinations.  The trick to remember with layering sets is that you want to use your lightest color first and work towards your darkest color.  Using a MISTI makes these sets super easy to be successful with and so much fun.  I've also layered the stenciling in the background with ink blending and texture paste, opening up another area of endless possibilities.  What stencils do you have that would look awesome layered?  It's such an easy way to add color and texture to your projects.  Here is the link to the video tutorial on my YouTube channel and my supply list is below.

 Supplies:
Concord & 9th Pretty Petals S&D
SSS inks: Duckling, Apricot, Sunkist
MISTI
Neenah 110 lb Solar White cardstock
TCW Mini Capricious stencil
BoBunny Sugar texture paste
Distress Ink: Bundled Sage, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon
Clarity Brush
SSS Painted Hello die
DCWV Gold Foiled cardstock
Scor-tape
Tombow Mono Multi glue
Glossy Accents
Fun Foam
Pretty Pink Posh 6 and 4 mm Clear Droplets

Thanks for joining me today!  Let me know if you have any questions and I'd be happy to help.  See you next time!

MFT Magical Dragons

Hey there!  From the moment I saw images and cards done with the Magical Dragons stamp set from My Favorite Things, I couldn't wait to get them home and start to play.  They are so sweet and so versitile, I even have a Christmas card idea with these.  I started with my stamping and used some masking to make the baby dragon sit on a floating smoke cloud, colored in the dragons and smoke with Copics, re-masked my images and used a cloud stencil to create several layers of clouds.  Here is the video tutorial on my YouTube channel to watch step by step how I created the scene and I encourage you to try these techniques too.

Supplies:
MFT Magical Dragons
Crafters Companion Spectrum Noir CS
Copics: BV000, 24, 04, 08, 11; B00, 02, 05; C00, 3, 5, 7
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (Copic safe)
Full Sticky back Post-It notes
Inky Antics Cloud Stencil
Distress Inks: Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet
SSS ink: Lake Shore
Altenew Ink: Lavender Fields and Ocean Waves
Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die
Neat & Tangled Dreams stamp
VersaMark
Wow Rainbow Black embossing powder
Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen in M
Little Things Sugar Plum and Passion Flower sequins mixes
Pretty Pink Posh 4 mm Sparkling Clear sequins
Doodlebug White glitter card stock
Neenah 110 lb cardbase
Scor-tape

If you don't have the same exact inks, try what you have.  I wanted to keep the clouds light and ethereal, so I used light shades of blue and purple, with the darker tones towards the bottom.  Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.  I love to interact with you guys!

Much love,
Jasmine

MFT Beary Special Birthday Shaker

Welcome!  One of my nephews has his 6th birthday coming up, so it was the perfect opportunity to bust out this stamp set and get creative.  His favorite color is yellow and he loves Rainbow Chip cake.  Yellow, while not being a color I work with often, came fairly easily but it took a little playing around to get the right technique for coloring a rainbow chip cake.  I adore how this card turned out and I think my little guy will love it.  Here is the video tutorial for the card and the supply list is below.  Here's a tip for the cake: add the dots of color while the base color is still wet.  It allows the dots to blend out just tiny bit to look like the colored sprinkles do in a baked cake.  You'll see it in the video too.

Supplies:
My Favorite Things Beary Special Birthday stamps and dies
My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Frames
Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Copic safe)
Acetate
Doodlebug cardstock: Sugar Shoppe and Friendly Forest
Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear 4mm Sequins
Rainbow Sequins
3M Foam tape
Scor-Tape 1/4" and 1/2"
3D Foam Squares
Wink of Stella Clear
Glossy Accents
Copics:
Bear: E23, 25, 27, 29, 04(ears)
Cake: E31, 33, B28, G17, R17, Y13
Frosting: Y06, 08, 11, 13
Balloons: Y06, 08, 11, B00
